ECB managing director Hugh Morris will step down for post at Glamorgan

Morris has accepted the combined position of chief executive and director of cricket at Glamorgan, the county he captained as a player.

"I am very grateful to the committee of Glamorgan for providing me with this opportunity and a new and exciting challenge at this stage of my career. I am grateful to the ECB and England cricket for their support in the last 16 years," Morris said.

"I really enjoyed my time as a player with Glamorgan and now my task, which I will take on with relish, is to work with everyone at the club to increase our talent pool - particularly from Wales."

Morris took the ECB role after England's 5-0 Test defeat in Australia in 2006-07 and has overseen three consecutive Ashes wins, culminating in the 3-0 rout of Michael Clarke's team that ended with the dramatic drawn fifth Test at the Oval on Sunday.

Former England captain Andrew Strauss, who retired last year, has been mooted as possible replacement for Morris after working for Sky television this summer.

England coach Andy Flower is another candidate after reports suggested he wanted to step down from his position because of the strain on his family life. But, asked about possibly replacing Morris on Monday, Flower was keen to stress his focus remains on cricket.

"Hugh worked with the ECB for 16 years and is very much a part of the reason for some of the success English cricket has had," Flower said. "He is an excellent man and will be sorely missed by the playing group and certainly by me. His post will need to be filled by a man of equal calibre."

Asked if that could be him, Flower said: "I don't look too far ahead with regard to my own personal situation and now have the challenge of an away Ashes."

Glamorgan chief Hamer to resign

Alan Hamer has announced he will resign as chief executive of Glamorgan at the end of the season.

Hamer was appointed to the role in 2009, but has been with the Welsh county since joining as finance and commercial director in 2006.

He will remain in charge for the rest of the season and Glamorgan say they will announce his successor shortly.

"This has been a difficult decision following seven happy years at the club," said Hamer.

"I am, however, convinced that this is the right time for me to build on my successes at the club and to take on a new challenge."

Glamorgan cricket chairman Barry O'Brien paid tribute to the work Hamer had done at the Swalec Stadium.

"Alan has indicated to me for a while that he wishes to pursue a number of other opportunities," said O'Brien.

"As our previous finance and commercial director and chief executive since 2009, Alan has made a major contribution to the club including managing the successful 2009 Ashes and this year's ICC Champions Trophy which helped put Glamorgan Cricket and the Swalec Stadium on the world cricket map.

"I am very grateful to Alan and respect his decision to seek a new challenge.

"I am also pleased that Alan has accepted the committee's invitation to become an honorary life member in recognition of his contribution to the club."

Goodwin helps Glamorgan to victory

Glamorgan 161-5 (19.1 overs) beat Worcestershire 157-6 (20 overs) by five wickets

Murray Goodwin and Jim Allenby both struck half-centuries as Glamorgan beat Worcestershire in the FLt20 in Cardiff.

Batting first, opener Thilan Samaraweera struck 65 off 42 balls to help the visitors to 157-6.

In reply, Allenby (50) and Goodwin (59) guided the in-form Welsh side into a strong position.

Gareth Andrew (3-27) dismissed both batsmen to give Worcestershire hope, but Ben Wright smashed 22 off 12 balls to complete the win in the final over.
