Baby photo contest
The Help Us Give, H.U.G., Organization is hosting a baby photo contest during the Herscher Labor Day events. Entry deadline is Tuesday. Categories range from birth to 24 months.
To enter, submit a 5x7 photo along with the $5 entry fee to: Baby Battle, Attention: Amanda Lopez, 1156 S. Osborn Ave., Kankakee, IL 60901. Photos must have been taken within the last three months. Photos will not be returned.
Public voting hours, including a .25-cent voting fee, are noon-3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31; noon-3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 1; and noon-3 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 2. Votes will be tallied on Monday, Sept. 2 and announced around 6 p.m.
The H.U.G. Organization is a new community action organization that is currently filing for its 501c3 status and depends on public donations to give back to the community in big ways, such as providing clothing including winter weather gear and hygiene products to families and others in need.
