St. John’s released the non-conference portion of its schedule for the upcoming season and it has a couple of interesting wrinkles.
Among the 13 total games, only one is truly on the road, their Nov. 8 season opener against Wisconsin at Sioux Falls, S.D. And the Red Storm will play three non-Big East games at Barclays Center in Brooklyn and just two at the Garden.
The Johnnies are in the field for the Barclays Center Classic where they will play two games at Carnesecca Arena against Monmouth and Longwood and then face Penn State in a semifinal round game Nov. 29 and a championship or consolation game against Ole Miss or Georgia Tech Nov. 30. They meet Columbia at Barclays on Dec. 28.
At the Garden, St. John’s will play Fordham on Dec. 7 in the MSG Holiday Festival and will play former Big East rival Syracuse, now in the ACC, on Dec. 15.
Their Carnesecca Arena games begin with exhibitions against San Francisco State and Humboldt State on Nov. 2 and 5 respectively. They also face Bucknell, Dartmouth, San Francisco, Wagner and Youngstown State.
