Warne, who retired from Test cricket in 2007, featured in each of the last two seasons of the Twenty20 Big Bash event.
"I think the time is right for me to hang up my Big Bash boots," he said.
"Juggling business, family and commentary commitments across two continents is not easy.
"I've always loved the game but now it's time to observe."
Warne bowed out of Test cricket after helping Australia to a 5-0 Ashes whitewash of England in 2007.
The Australian retired from the first-class game in 2008 after a spell captaining English county side Hampshire.
Warne quit all forms of cricket in May 2011 when he left Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League but announced in November of the same year that he would feature in the Big Bash tournament.

When younger and on top of his game he was the greatest slow arm bowler to walk the planet. Fantastic cricketer. Competitive, never bowled a neutral ball in his test career. Always looking to get the batsmen out with every delivery. We would have been in serious trouble if he had been bowling at his best at Lords this weekend. Legend.

Great cricketer, Victorian hero (think Bill Lawery)...I wanna boof him. Happy a kiwi stopped him getting an international ton on 99...it was the only thing we could do against such a talent! It might have been a not ball, but at least it wasn't an under arm : )

Brilliant bowler who could bat. A true Aussie, so glad he dropped that catch in 2005 though which cost them the Ashes.

Warne is a remarkable bowler and a superb tactician , hopefully some of you less objective crickets fans will come to realize its been a privileged to watch him in our life time. Not to shabby in the commentary box either. Personal life had some ups and downs and some ins and outs so to speak!!! Never dull though.
