A fire that started outside a garage in Coal City on Thursday afternoon caused $40,000 in damage to the structure and a pontoon boat.
Fire investigators have not yet determined what caused the blaze on Muskie Trail, said Nick Doerfler, a spokesman for the Coal City fire department. No injuries were reported.
The fire is believed to have started just outside of the garage, Doerfler said. Firefighters got the fire under control before flames spread to the home.
The fire remains under investigation.
