Miller returns to Illinois for brief, busy schedule

Marcus Miller, formerly of Beecher, is back in his home state this week to compete in several stakes races at the Illinois State Fair in Springfield. The 24-year-old also will be at Balmoral Park tonight, where he’ll be very busy.

Miller has a drive in every event on the 10-race card that includes the well-bred, 3-year-old filly trotter We’ve Got It All in the third race, the second of three divisions of the Champion On Ice Trotting Series.

A $95,000 buy as a yearling, the filly went unraced as a 2-year-old and has lost her first seven starts this season. However, with the pole position and the class drop, she’ll open as the 7-2 morning-line second choice behind first-round winner Tempus Fugit (3-1, Kyle Husted).

Miller will return to his new home in Pennsylvania following the final day of racing Thursday in Springfield, where eight $45,000 Illinois State Colt Fair Stake Championships will be decided.
