At least four people have been detained for questioning by police following Saturday night's shootings in Pembroke, but no charges have been filed as of 10 a.m. Monday morning.
Pembroke Days at Martin Luther King Park turned violent about 7:30 p.m, and two people were shot after a several fights broke out during the annual festival in Pembroke Township.Both gunshot victims were taken to the hospital, one with a graze wound to the head, Kankakee County sheriff's police said. The other victim was believed to have been shot in the abdomen. The injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
A third person, a woman, also suffered some sort of health problem during the fracas. It initially was believed she was hit by a car traveling at a slow speed, but it was later thought she may have fainted.
Multiple police agencies from across the county assisted breaking up the fights.
