Wilmington's Tanner Roark standing out for Washington Nationals

For Wilmington's Tanner Roark, the venture through the major leagues just keeps getting better and better.

The 26-year-old pitcher is already showing staying power with the Washington Nationals, who called him up to the big leagues earlier this month.

And while Roark hasn't given up an earned run in four appearances as a relief pitcher, his dream got even better Monday.

Wilmington along for Tanner Roark's ride of a lifetime

He was in uniform at Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs, the team he grew up loving.

He didn't get to pitch in an 11-1 loss, but dozens of fans, including his mom, Jodi; dad, Toby; brother, Dillon; and fiance, Amanda; took in the game. And on Wednesday, there are already about 90 people ready to caravan back up to Chicago for the third game of the series.

It's a four-game set, so Roark has plenty of time to make an appearance.
